Many Democrats whined that Netanyahu’s speech to Congress stepped on Obama’s toes. Why, who does Congress think it is inserting itself into international affairs?
Said Pelosi yesterday after the speech:
I was near tears throughout the Prime Minister’s speech — saddened by the insult to the intelligence of the United States as part of the P5 +1 nations, and saddened by the condescension toward our knowledge of the threat posed by Iran and our broader commitment to preventing nuclear proliferation.
But Nan headlined an cadre of Democrats who ostentatiously traveled to Syria in 2007, when Bush was president, to demonstrate that there were still some reasonable Americans.
And of course, John Kerry, that master of international diplomacy, the man who’s leading the Iran negotiations, once heralded the butcher of Syria as a reasonable man. That’s the Kerrys and Assads enjoying a fine meal in Damascus.
“President Barack Obama’s administration considers Syria a key player in Washington’s efforts to revive the stalled Middle East peace process.
“Syria is an essential player in bringing peace and stability to the region.”
Mr Kerry met with Mr Assad at least six times, and on one occasion – seen in the photographs – dining with the two men’s wives at the Naranj restaurant in central Damascus.
Some 200,000 dead Syrian’s later, many murdered with chemical weapons by Assad, that position is no doubt no longer operable.
