Zimbabwe was once the breadbasket of Africa, producing food for local consumption and export. Then along came dictator Robert Mugabe to demonstrate how bad government can ruin a country. There’s no space to cover that tale here, but suffice it to say that bad weather didn’t do agriculture in in Mugabeland.
But he can still spot a sucker. So along comes the UN bearing green guilt and promises of $$$ for countries, ahem, affected by climate change. That means Mugabe is in line to collect $1.5 billion, none of which will likely go to the starving masses.
