LA Mayor Antonio recently gushed, “Healthcare is a basic human need, and it ought to be a basic human right.”

If healthcare is a right, then:

• Food must be a right, too. After all, you cannot be healthy if you don’t eat.
• Clothing is a right because you cannot be healthy and naked (in most parts of the world.)
• Shelter is a right because you cannot be healthy living on the streets.
• Thus, the government owes everyone a living.
• Some people can live off the toil of others, who fund the government which in turn funds their “rights.”
• Since “undocumented” Mexicans in the United States have a “right” to be here, then they too are owed a living by American taxpayers.
• If Mexicans have a right to be in America illegally, so must everyone. Surely an accident of geography cannot determine human rights.
• Thus American taxpayers owe everyone on planet earth a living.
