George Clooney’s got a new movie bashing capitalism, the teat on which he suckles.

Glenn Whipp, reviewing it in the Daily News writes:

The movie, written and directed by Tony Gilroy (writer of the three “Bourne” movies), isn’t all that complicated, features a couple of rather enormous gaps in logic and its ending can be seen a mile away.

Gaps in logic? Pray tell.

None of that matters because it’s a great exercise in wish fulfillment that taps into our ever-increasing disgust over unregulated corporate profiteering.

Such are the juvenile views engendered in the cloistered worlds of journalism and Hollywood. One wonders where corporations go unregulated. Here in the US, they spend millions a year dealing with government regulations.

Or does Whipp think profits should be regulated? If so, does that mean:

  • The founders of Google should give back some of the billions they earned?
  • Kobe Bryant, Peyton Manning etc. should give have their salaries slashed?
  • George Clooney should only make X times what the grip on his movies makes?
  • Oprah should give back some of the $260 million she earned last year?

No, no. The evil corporations are those providing gasoline, drugs and food — y’know, the nonessentials.
