Tigerhawk:

It is a great tragedy that the jihadis feel the need to remind the world how demonic they really are:

Afghanistan’s deadliest suicide attack since the Taliban regime’s ouster killed 59 schoolchildren, while 96 other students were wounded in the blast, the Education Ministry spokesman said Friday.

The attack in the northern province of Baghlan on Tuesday killed at least 75 people. The dead children were ages eight to 18, said Zahoor Afghan, an Education Ministry spokesman.

Fortunately, the bad guys are ending up on the short end of the stick. The A.P. article tries to push along the narrative that Afghanistan is unraveling, but does manage to put some good news in the bad news paragraph at the end:

Violence in Afghanistan this year has been the deadliest since the 2001 invasion. More than 5,700 people, mostly militants, have died so far this year in insurgency-related violence, according to an Associated Press count based on figures from Afghan and Western officials. (bold emphasis added)

So let me get this straight: While this year has been the “deadliest” since United States retaliated for September 11, it has been particularly deadly for people who blow up schoolchildren.

I call that progress.
