The Republican presidential race is so unsettled that some party officials are openly talking of a scenario that seemed almost unthinkable until now: the first contested GOP convention in 60 years.

Imagine that: two weeks into January and the GOP nominee has not yet been crowned!

Political conventions used to be interesting because that was where the nominee was determined. Of late, they’ve been boring infomercials.

Reminder: to date there have been primaries and caucuses comprising states with a total population of 15 million.
