Fact: all the votes were counted, then recounted, then re-recounted. Bush still won. After all the media recount studies: Bush still won.
If Democracy was diminished, it was by Al Gore’s petulant refusal to accept the outcome and drag things into the courts. Richard Nixon, facing a likely stolen election in 1960, had the class to drop the matter for the good of the nation.
