Heard on LA radio yesterday — first a commercial:

Are you a victim? Do you have large credit card debt? Are you behind on your mortgage? You don’t have to suffer any longer. Turn your debt into wealth….

Then a news story about Acorn holding a demonstration at the Federal Building, complaining about the bailout in the works. A protestor gripes:

How dare they talk about bailing out Wall Street when all these poor people are losing their homes?

Well, Ms. Acorn, people who borrowed money and then didn’t pay up – on their credit cards or on mortgages — are the root of the problem. If people like you were not given easy money, if banks were not encouraged by the government to make risky loans to creeps like you, we wouldn’t have this mess.

You probably don’t earn enough money to pay income tax (half of Americans do not) and are getting a free ride. Now your irresponsible behavior is costing responsible taxpayers real money.

So shut up.
